Weaver Exhausts His Life Savings To Give Ayodhya Ram Temple 196-Feet 'Rama Koti Vastram' Silk Saree
In an act of devotion, a humble weaver from Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh, has crafted a silk saree of epic proportions as a sacred offering to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Jujaru Nagaraju is a smalltime weaver who wanted to gift this drape but this isn't just any saree, it is 196 feet in length, meticulously woven to be presented to the idol of Goddess Sita at the shrine of the renowned temple.

What Did It Take To Craft 196-Foot Silk Saree For Goddess Sita?
Nagaraju's dedication to his craft and devotion is evident in his investment of Rs 3.5 lakh-a sum that represents his entire life savings. According to the reports, the craftsman started the project two years back in 2022 and this saree is a labor of love that features the sacred chant 'Jai Shri Ram' embroidered 32,200 times in 13 different languages including Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Malayalam, and Odiya.
However, initially, the saree was estimated to cost around Rs 1.5 lakh, but due to the use of special cloth 'Rama Koti Vastram', he burnt out all his savings to create his masterpiece. Besides the chant, this saree also features a tapestry of tales from the life of Lord Ram, depicted in 168 intricate pictorial representations, mentions a TOI report.
It took Nagaraju six months, with daily ten-hour shifts at the loom, to complete the saree, which weighs 16 kg. His commitment shines through the finesse and detail of his work, culminating in a masterpiece ready for the consecration of the Ram Mandir.
In an interview with TOI, he said that he has spoken to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust regarding the arrangements to hand over the saree. Once he receives a green signal, Nagaraju wishes to personally hand over this special saree in the Ayodhya temple.
However, for reasons unknown, he won't be able to present the gift on 22 January and will plan to hand it over on some other special occasion. Recently, this saree's display attracted approximately 500 visitors, some of whom offered prayers.
