The Mind-Boggling Mystery Of Nothingness
Many scientists believed that the universe had no beginning and that stars and planets have existed without there being a time that can determine their origin. Scientists including Albert Einstein believed that because of this, the universe will see no end and stars and other heavenly bodies will continue to exist for all of time. Apart from the heavenly bodies, scientists believed in the same concept with regard to time as well. It wasn't until early 20th century that renowned astronomer concluded, with convincing theories and evidence, that the universe was actually expanding and that everything did have a source.

In this article, we look at the mystery of nothingness- what it means to us as humans, the universe as a whole and the crucial aspect of time. Looking at how the universe came into being, there is absolutely no credible evidence that suggests the exact source. This brings into question the concept of nothingness. If we look at bodies in space including the earth and the sun and compare them with bodies that are way bigger- our reference here is to stars and galaxies that are more than a million times bigger than the sun itself- we begin to question the vastness of the universe.
It must be noted that large particles come into being only due to the fusion of smaller particles. Hydrogen is the most basic element that has just one electron. The particles that form that electron are even minute, aren't they? And what about the particles that form the minute particles and what about the minutest particles that form the minuter particles that go on to form minute particles?
This basic question leads us to believe that when we keep going lower and lower, because of lack of proof, we are bound to come to the conclusion that our universe has originated from particles whose mass and presence is so insignificant that they are literally nothing. And when the universe crumbles someday, it is going to fade away into nothing isn't it?
This can be directly related to the question of consciousness- although it may send shivers down our spines, we came from nothing and we will fade into nothing. But the nothingness is the most significant thing of everything, isn't it?
