If one roots out all desire fully, the soul"s ultimate yearning
For a good and spotless life, will be realized easily
Full elimination of desire will surely lead to the soul"s deep and persistent yearning for a virtuous life. The eschewing of desire as recommended in Indian Philosophy, will probably not appeal to the modern rational mind, which according to Rajaji, 'seeks to live in hope and faith in human effort". But the Gita doctrine of 'Karmayoga" is definitely associated with the performance of one"s ordained duties, through elimination of all desire. Gita also enjoins the acquisition of true knowledge, with which will go the right action, leading to a virtuous life.
