Payanthookkaar ceydha udhavi nayanthookkin
Nanmai kadalir peridhu.

The value of help rendered by one who has not counted the cost, or the likely recompense,When assessed, is greater in magnitude than the oceans.

The generous and spontaneous help without heed to the cost or the return is indeed really great, greater than all the seas. The same idea has been expressed by Longfellow thus:

'The greatest grace of a gift perhaps is that
it anticipates and admits of no return.

While in Kural 101, the help is given, not as a return for something received, and in 102, it is given in time, here it does not expect any return.

The greatest of such benefactors is the rain cloud itself, which just gives and gives seeking no return whatsoever.
