Chaitra Navratri 2024: Date, Time
Chaitra Navratri in 2024 will commence on Tuesday, 09 April 2024, and conclude on Wednesday, 17 April 2024. The festival spans nine days, with each day dedicated to the worship of a different form of Goddess Durga, known as Navadurga. The ninth day, also known as Ram Navami, marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama and is celebrated with great fervor.
Chaitra Navratri 2024: Rituals and Traditions
Chaitra Navratri is observed with great devotion and adherence to tradition. People observe a nine-day fast, and engage in numerous rituals such as the Navratri Ghat Sthapana, Kanya Puja, Durga Aarti, Durga Chalisa, Durga Kawach, and Durga Saptashathi Path, and also participate in the Dandiya and Garba Raas.
The festival begins with Ghatasthapana, the installation of a clay pot (ghata) symbolizing Goddess Durga in the home. The pot is filled with water and barley seeds, and a mango leaf is placed on top, signifying prosperity and growth.
During the nine days of Navratri, devotees observe fasts and perform prayers and rituals to honor the goddess. They visit temples dedicated to Goddess Durga, offer flowers, fruits, and other offerings, and participate in special aartis and bhajans. The eighth day, known as Ashtami, and the ninth day, known as Navami, are considered especially auspicious, with elaborate rituals and prayers held in temples and homes.

Chaitra Navratri is a period of spiritual significance and renewal for Hindus. It is believed that during these nine days, Goddess Durga descends to Earth to bless her devotees and rid the world of evil forces.
