It is said that once a devotee sought the grace of the sage, Kanchi Maha Periyava (Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati) as he was afflicted with cancer. He then asked someone to write out the particular sloka from Narayaneeyam and asked the afflicted person to read it 108 times a day for 45 days and to not worry further. After six months, the person came to the presence of the sage with tears of gratitude brimming in his eyes, stating that he was completely cured of cancer. It was the grace and compassion of the sage and the steadfast faith of the devotee in the almighty, which brought about the miraculous cure.
