Mahashivratri 2024: Rules for Keeping Shivlinga At Home, Know Its Benefits
Mahashivratri is the biggest festival of the year for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This year the festival of Mahashivratri will be celebrated on 8 March 2024. On this occasion, devotees reach Shiva temple to get the blessings of Lord Shiva. Let's anoint him.
Many people have installed Shivlinga at home or are planning to do so. If you install Shivling in the house, then you should install Shivling only by following some special rules so that happiness and prosperity remain in the house. So let's know these special things.

If you are keeping Shivlinga at home then you need to follow these rules.
1. It is said in Shivpuran that not more than one Shivling should be kept in the house and Shivling should never be kept in any place where it cannot be worshipped.
2. It is considered customary to always install Shivlinga in the holder object i.e. Argha. Keeping Shivalinga in a pot hinders its worship, hence there is a rule to install Shivalinga in the temple. Shivalinga kept in a pot has adverse effects and Mars starts becoming heavy in a person's life.
3. The creation of Chandra Dosha in a person's life is most commonly seen by installing Shivalinga in a pot. The reason behind the occurrence of Chandra Dosha is that the Moon is seated on the head of Lord Shiva, in such a situation, if the purity, sanctity, and its rules of Shivalinga are ignored then the chances of occurrence of Chandra Dosha become stronger.
4. Mount Kailash, the abode of Mahadev, is situated in the north direction. Whether Shivling is in the house or in the temple, its altar i.e. the water reservoir should always face towards the north.
5. Energy is flowing from Shivling all the time, hence there should always be a stream of water on Shivling which keeps the energy calm. Some people offer water to Shiva Linga every week, but it is not enough, it creates unrest in the house.
6. A Shivalinga made of stone taken from the Narmada river should be kept in the house, it is more auspicious. Apart from this, you can also keep Parad Shivling.
7. The size of the Shivling installed in the house should always be small and it should not be more than the size of the thumb.
8. Shivling should not be consecrated in the house, it should be kept as it is and worshiped as per the rituals. Shivling should be worshiped every morning and evening, if it is not possible to worship regularly then Shivling should not be kept in the house.
