Maha Shivratri 2024: Bring Lord Shiva's Favourite Plants Home To Garner His Blessings
Mahashivratri, a festival deeply rooted in the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati holds a significant place in the hearts of devotees across India. This year, the auspicious occasion is set to be observed on 08 March 2024.
As per traditions that have been followed for years and are to be carried forward for many more, the festival involves the revered practice of performing Rudrabhishek on the Shivling.

Astrological remedies, believed to bring happiness and peace, play a crucial role in the day's observances. Bringing these three specific plants into one's home on Mahashivratri can help one to garner blessings from Lord Shiva.
1. Belpatra Plant
The Belpatra plant, as described in ancient scriptures, holds a special place in Lord Shiva's heart. It is a tradition to offer Belpatra to the Shivling on Mahashivratri, which is said to please Lord Shiva immensely. Moreover, introducing a Belpatra plant into your home on this day is believed to dispel negative energies, creating a protective aura around your living space.
2. Dhatura Plant
Despite the general advice against keeping thorny plants at home, the Dhatura plant is an exception on Mahashivratri. According to Astrologer Radhakant Vats, bringing a Dhatura plant into your home on this sacred day is considered highly auspicious. This plant is not only associated with attracting happiness and prosperity but also with offering protection against calamities and invoking Lord Shiva's blessings.
3. Mogra Plant
In the spirit of Mahashivratri, it is also recommended to sow a Mogra plant at home. This plant is believed to be a favorite of Goddess Parvati. By doing so, devotees are said to receive the grace of the Goddess, aiding in the alleviation of marital troubles and enhancing the harmony within one's domestic life.
The festival of Mahashivratri not only commemorates the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati but also serves as an opportunity for devotees to invite positive energy into their lives through age-old traditions and astrological remedies.
