Akshaya Tritiya is the most auspicious day among all in Hinduism when you take the regional calendar into account. Celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha, Akshaya Tritiya is the day of new beginnings.
The word 'Akshaya' in 'Akshaya Tritiya' means one that never ends or something that does not degenerate with time. Just like the name suggests, Akshaya Tritiya is a day when no matter what you do, you will receive ten-fold benefits from it.
People do charity and donations on this day. There are certain things that are prescribed to be donated, according to their birth charts and what you wish to achieve by the donation. In the same way, any new venture receives blessings for success when it is started on Akshaya Tritiya day.
Akshaya Tritiya is considered to be the most auspicious day for marriages. The bond created when two couples are married on this day is very strong. Without doubt, such couples will spend their lives in happiness and peace.

Akshaya Tritiya is a day that belongs to Lord Maha Vishnu. It is said that Akshaya Tritiya day is so auspicious that Lord Maha Vishnu chose this day to be born on earth as Lord Parashuram on this day. Lord Parashuram is the sixth Avatar of Lord Maha Vishnu.
He was born a Brahmin and as the son of Jamadagni and his wife Renuka. Even though he was born as a Brahmin, he took a vow that he would cleanse this earth of all the wicked Kshatriyas. This was unique because Brahmins are not supposed to shed blood under any circumstances.
According to mythology, the land of Kerala owes its creation to Lord Parashuram who reclaimed it from the sea by throwing his Axe into the ocean.
It is believed that the Holy river of Ganga used to reside in the Milky Way in the heavens. It was as a result of the penance done by King Bhagirath that she came down to earth. It is said that it was on the Akshaya Tritiya day that this happened. This has only increased the holiness of the day.
This is also the reason behind the ritual of taking 'Ganga Snan' or a bath in the waters of Ganga on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.
Goddess Annapoorna is the Goddess of prosperity. With her blessings, no devotee shall go hungry due to the lack of food. Goddess Annapoorna is a form of Goddess Parvati and makes sure that all the creation has food to eat.
It is believed that Goddess Annapoorna was born on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. This is the reason why Goddess Annapoorna is worshipped on Akshaya Tritiya day. People ask the blessing that their kitchens and godowns always remain full.
In the South of India, it is believed that Lord Kubera had prayed to Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and riches on Akshaya Tritiya day. As a result, Lord Kubera became immensely rich and is considered as the treasurer of the Gods.
On Akshaya Tritiya day, the people of South India pray to Lord Maha Vishnu first and then to Goddess Lakshmi. Lakshmi Yantra is worshipped too. Along with the idols of Lord Maha Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, the idol or picture of Lord Kubera also finds a place.
Akshaya Tritiya has a lot of references in the epic Mahabharata that exalts the auspiciousness of the day. To begin with, Maharishi Ved Vyas began writing Mahabharata on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. Yudhishtira received the Akshaya Patra on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.
The Akshaya Patra is a bowl that is never devoid of food. It was believed that the bowl always kept giving out food until Draupadi finished her meal. Also, when Cheerharan took place, Draupadi cried out to Lord Krishna for help. Lord Krishna helped her with clothes that didn't end and couldn't be taken off. This incident is supposed to have happened on the Akshaya Tritiya day as well.
Another incident that connects Lord Krishna to Akshaya Tritiya is that of the poor Sudama. Sudama was a childhood friend of Lord Krishna. But due to his fate, he and his family were very poor. He visited Lord Krishna with an intention to ask for help, but when he reached Lord Krishna's place, he couldn't do so. However, Lord Krishna understood his dilemma and blessed him with all sorts of riches and wealth.
