Shocking Religious Traditions In India
There are numerous traditionsin Inidan cultures, apart from religions and customs. It has set an example of sovereignty, secularity and unity at different stages for the world. With world’s second largest population, India takes pride to be the habitat for various religions like Hinduism, Islamism, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, etc.
We always talk about our religious beliefs and faith in various rituals. Many of them gives immense happiness, peace and calmness to our heart and soul say, greetings like ‘namastey’, touching feet of elders, peace yoga, doing pooja, hawan, etc. It’s good too. But there are certain bad or I ought to say shocking traditions in Indian culture as well which only hurts someone and gives nothing but uproar.
Amazing Scientific Reasons Behind Hindu Traditions
Few years ago there was a practice called Sati Pratha in which widow women were compelled to get burnt alive along with her husband’s deceased body. You can imagine how cruel the society must be. But all thanks to Queen Victoria, at least one good work the white people did during colonial period.
No one can forget the practices of untouchability, for which Gandhiji fought his whole life and somewhat succeeded as well. But it’s too sad to say, till now it is being practiced in a few parts of our country.
In present days too there are frequent shocking or evil practices & traditions are going on in India. Its sometimes in the name religion, faith or sometimes in the name of God/Allah/Jesus, etc. Yes, it’s not that only one religion practices all this, in fact almost all other religions too are involved in these.
Most of them you can see in your locality like- getting cows run on human chest, walking barefoot on fire, hitting oneself with chabuk (beating rope), breaking tube lights and glass bottles on their body etc., they do it publicly and the audience just takes enjoyment.
It is not that government is allowing these practices, they do pass some legal statements to avoid them but no one cares, all laws gets in vein in the name of religion.
You must have seen sometimes, somewhere goats, buffaloes, etc. are hanged or publicly they cut their heads and feel happy saying they have made ‘Bali’ for the God and now God will praise us with prosperity and happiness. But no one asks where and which god of which religion asks you to kill a living being and you’ll be blessed with happiness. I don’t think any religion asks you to kill anyone. If you believe that god exists and is the only reason for our existence, then there is no argument that god will want some kind of ‘Bali’ or something like that to be happy, as no parents would ask one of their children to kill other.
I too have watched and learned lots of religious serials and movies etc. and some of the stories from my mother and grandmother. And accordingly if I go, I learned that god is in every kind of living and non- living things. God is in you, in me, in that goat and buffalo too, and asks us to spread and distribute happiness all around. That if your surrounding will be happy it’ll automatically follow you.
I think these illiterate, I must say, must be taught a lesson for creating such an unwanted discrepancy in our society.
