Dealing With Depression Understanding The Cause

Root cause for depression
While the causes and situation may differ from person to person for depression, the root cause remains the same. Spirituality helps understand the underlying cause of depression and striking it at its root.
The first and foremost step in overcoming depression is to make up your mind to get out of it.
Without a firm decision from your end to help yourself, no external help for depression would help.
However a firm decision from one's end seems to be impossible and one finds oneself having depression looming over again.
A firm decision to come out of depression seems to be elusive simply because one holds on to depressive thoughts. It is a normal feeling which, is erroneous that the thoughts overcome us. The truth is that thoughts cannot overcome one unless one's participation is present in holding on to them. So attention on negative thoughts exercises with one. One will have to stop attending to negative thoughts.
Another undeniable truth is one's love for problems. A gnawing pain owing to problems in life is often relished.
Self pity strengthens negative thinking and it acts as one of the important agents in relishing problems. A subtle ego about one's goodness in the face of tormenting situations also adds on to depression.
There is no point in glorifying one's own goodness by harbouring negativities. Instead looking at peace as the objective of any pursuit can open vistas of fresh hope and life.
Dealing with depression
The first and foremost step in dealing with depression is that a deep reflection will reveal that in all one's undertakings, peace is the goal.
Set peace as your goal consciously in every undertaking.
Understand that in life one cannot be totally successful or a failure. In certain aspects one is successful and in certain others one is a failure. This truth holds good for each and every being. So concentrate on the process or the path which, will give one a sense of fulfillment and motivate one to strive further, if not success.
If one can think a little deeply, it is one's love for oneself that causes the fear of failure and pushes one into depression. So open up arenas for a positive way of loving yourself. Direct your emotions to positiveness to love yourself better.
While there are number of ways to seek help for depression, spirituality helps to undo it from its root. An understanding that being spiritual is not to become a monk, but to live in peace. Look for relaxation methods to help ease the cluttering thoughts.
Exercise and Yoga can help bring down the rush of thoughts, for when one's body is stretched, the mind also gets stretched.
Step aside from the muddle of the mad mind and witness its working. This brings down the rush of thoughts. This also helps look at life as a bigger picture.
Though your energy may not be up to its mark, set small goals to keep your mind occupied.
Cultivate good relationships with people around. Simple things in life like a little chat with someone you love can bring about a great relief.
Each day is a new day, relish each and everything you do. Realise that you are into something because you ought to be or you have chosen to be. Hence take responsibility for your actions and relish them.
Even every sip of a cup of tea enjoyed, can rejuvenate you in its own way, for small and simple things put together accounts for major happiness in life.
Ultimately life is to be lived. Love yourself the positive way and make life a celebration.
