Mind's Myths
A crazy old woman who lived all her life in a village, spitted out foul words in anger as she was leaving the village, saying that the villagers had inflicted her with troubles all her life. She cursed them and claimed that they would learn a bitter lesson on her departure.
The anxious villagers asked her as to what would befall them once she left.
They old lady replied with vengeance, “ I am going to take away my rooster along with me whose crowing is responsible for the sun to rise every morning in the village!"
She further continued, “Now you are all going to grope in darkness as the sun will rise only in the village where I am going to stay!"
The old woman on seeing the sun rising in her newly moved in village, felt that she had avenged the troubles of the villagers that they they put her into !
Osho points out that how we become the victims of illusion, a product of our own illusive mind. We believe that things happen according to our beliefs and expectations. He says that roosters are aware that they crow when the sun rises, but it is their masters who think otherwise!
