The Tao Way Of Effortlessness

By Staff

Tao Story, Natural Flow
To go with the flow, knows no effort.

A butcher was working on the meat for a waiting customer. The customer enquired, "Is this not the same knife that you had last year? Do you sharpen it now and then?

To the customer's surprise, the butcher answered, "This is the same knife that I am using for the last seventeen years and I haven't sharpened it even once. When I cut the meat I allow the knife to work its way through flesh without effort or stress. When I come across a tricky bit, I allow the knife to solve the puzzle itself and the meat gives in to the blade"

Effort does not find its place in the natural flow.
