God Here, There And Everywhere

The realized man, abiding in the highest sate is most often not recognized. He could easily pass off as a lunatic or an eccentric, His exalted state being camouflaged by his outward appearance and behaviour. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa speaks of one such man who had merged with the divine.

There was once a holy man who was mistaken for a lunatic. He uttered not a word and lived in a state of ecstasy due to his highest spiritual realization. One day a strange sight of Him caught the attention of the villagers. After having begged his food, the holy man fed himself first and thrust the food into a dog's mouth next. He continued to do so as the onlookers laughed at his queer behaviour.

The holy man thereupon said,

Why do you laugh?

Vishnu is seated with Vishnu,
Vishnu is feeding Vishnu
Why do you laugh, O Vishnu?
Whatever is, is Vishnu?

His words thus expounded the Vedic truth of realizing God in Himself and around. To Him God and God alone existed.
