The Zen master Tauken was once approached by a Lord who requested his suggestion as to how he would pass his time. He felt that his days were stretchy attending his office and constantly receiving the homage of others. In short he was complaining of boredom.

Tauken, the master wrote eight Chinese characters as a solution :

Not twice this day
Inch time foot gem.
This day will not come again.
Each minute is worth a priceless gem.
