One day Gasan, a Zen Master while instructing his followers regarding 'Killing' said that it was right on the part of the people who were desirous on sparing the lives of all conscious beings. He said it was noble not to protect even animals and insects. But he followed to present the most valuable spiritual gems when he further interrogated "What about those who kill time, destroy wealth and political economy?"

Finally he asked "What of the one who preaches without enlightenment?" and answered

"He is killing Buddhism"
