The Ball Of Thread

One day when Kabir was working on His loom, a disciple of His came rushing with great excitement with the news that a juggler on the street has attracted a huge gathering by making a bamboo stand in the air. Kabir immediately rushed out with a ball of thread to the gathering where the juggler was performing his feat. He threw up the ball of thread in the air which unwound on its own until the full length stood stiff and straight without any support in the mid air. The thread stood at a far greater height than the bamboo of the juggler . The abashed juggler left the place as the awestruck audience witnessed the power of Kabir.
Kabir 's motive to perform the feat was not to showcase His powers but like all other saints to discourage the display of jugglery. As per the views of saints, extraordinary powers like occultism, clairvoyance, psychic powers etc would make present themselves as one progresses in his spiritual pursuit. One has to be watchful not to be trapped in them, as they themselves are impediments delaying the ultimate goal of enlightenment. A true Jnani does not take credit to the boons bestowed by Him. Being established in the self without the slightest trace of doer-ship, its His mere presence that marks the making of miracles.
