Here are some ways in which you can prevent your toddler from hitting you and others.
Tips To Stop Toddlers From Hitting:
- Most often parents are alright with toddler tantrums when they are directed towards them but when it comes to others they feel embarrassed and beat up the child; this is a wrong concept. The child does not understand the difference between you and outsiders so you need to discipline kids fairly.
- First of all you need to stop the toddler from hitting you. Only if are able to achieve that can you set an example for others. If the child is hitting, pinching or biting you then you need to take matters seriously from the first instance.
- It is childish to hit the child back because it will make he or she think that you both are equals. You need to be the 'pack leader' only then will he or she follow you. A stern look should be enough to make the child understand that something is going wrong and it better stop now.
- The other option is to ignore the child when he or she is throwing a tantrum. Most kids yell, hit and throw things to seek attention. If they do not get this attention they initially get wilder but slowly as their energy saps, they realise that things are not going to work out this way and sobre down.
- You need to stop any kind violent influences on your child. If your child is watching violent cartoons or playing any kind of violent games then you need to put an end to it. Some cartoons have been certified as unsuitable for children so need to keep a watch out for them.
- Even if your child sees violence around they get a urge to become aggressive toddlers. So need to make sure that as parents you never shout or insult each other. If such influences come from other members of the family then you need to stop that too.
- Sometimes it is not the fault of the child at all. Adults or other children smother them in such a suffocating way that they hit out in self defense. Over affectionate uncles, aunts and cousins can do this often. You need to protect your child from such situations.
Use these parenting tips to stop your toddler from hitting anybody or anything.
