How To Find Out The Most Fertile Days? How To Calculate Ovulation And Fertility Time?
As women go through menstrual periods every month, a question arises as to how to keep track of periods so that you can determine the most fertile days if you plan to become pregnant. This cycle of the uterus lining forming and shedding differs in timing for each individual.

The average menstrual cycle of a healthy woman is twenty-eight days, but some women have as little as twenty-one days and others have as many as thirty-five days. During this period the uterus lining will form, and the ovary will release the egg which will travel down the fallopian tube and settle in the uterus [1][2].
The uterus sheds its lining without fertilisation and the egg flows out during menstruation. By monitoring this cycle, you will be able to pinpoint the most fertile days of the cycle.
Therefore, if you intend to become pregnant during this period, you should maintain sexual contact during this period.
This period is known as your fertile window. If you are aware of your periods, you will have an idea of the most fertile days of the cycle [2].
How To Keep Track Of Periods?
The best way to keep track of your period is to count out the number of days your menstrual cycle typically lasts. The following day after the end of your cycle is when your next period should commence [3].
Calculating Ovulation And Fertility Time
Sperm has a life of three to five days while an egg can live for a maximum of one day. Therefore, if you plan to have a child, you should ensure that the sperm is produced from six days before ovulation until the day of ovulation [4].
A woman's ovulation occurs two weeks before her next cycle begins. A common misconception is that ovulation occurs in the middle of a menstrual cycle.

The ovulation period will occur on day twenty-one of your thirty-five-day cycle and not on day seventeen if you have a cycle of thirty-five days. Therefore, regardless of your cycle, you always return fourteen days and get your ovulation day. It is best to conceive a baby five days before and throughout the ovulation day. This is due to the fact that the sperm and egg life spans are the same.
If you have intercourse up to five days before the ovulation day, the sperm will live to fertilise the egg. However, if you miss a day before or after the ovulation date, you will need to wait for the next ovulation before attempting to conceive again.
As the chances of becoming pregnant increase as the day of ovulation approaches, it is advised to have sex at two-day intervals, specifically during this fertile period, to ensure egg fertilisation.
Signs Of Ovulation
How do you know when you are ovulating? There are simple signs that you can take to determine when you are ovulating. During ovulation, your vaginal discharge will be clear and slippery, much like egg white. You can also check your basal body temperature. You should take note of your body temperature every morning before waking up [5][6].
The temperature rises about half a degree Celsius after ovulation. If you keep track of this temperature for a month or two, you will be able to estimate when you will ovulate.
On A Final Note...
Keeping track of your period can save you from a number of unwanted circumstances. Similarly, if you are trying to conceive, you can determine when is the best time to conceive.
