Ways To Induce Labour Naturally
Pregnancy is a happy period for the expectant mother and the full family. But after you have passed the 38 to 40 weeks and waiting for that moment to see your newborn, your patience seems to run out. You have got everything ready, from the hospital labour bag to the hospital bookings too, but still no sign of your newborn coming out into the world.
For many pregnant women, this is one of the many reasons why they undergo a lot of stress when they are due. A pregnant woman may sometimes feel like her belly is going to burst with the pressure and the uncomfortable feeling. The only way to help one in a situation like this is to induce labour naturally.
To get rid of this feeling and help you feel better, here are some ways to induce labour naturally.
Nipple Stimulation
When it comes to nipple stimulation, you need to gently rub or roll the nipple to encourage the start of contractions. In this theory it is said that the oxytocin (a hormone causes contractions) is released in the body when the breasts are stimulated. This process will help to induce labour naturally.
With the help of Castor Oil
One of the natural ways to induce labour is with the help of castor oil. Castor oil acts acts as a powerful laxative. It stimulates the gut which in turn stimulates the uterus. This process helps in inducing labour.
Intercourse
The art of lovemaking helps to induce labour naturally. It works like this - firstly, an orgasm helps to stimulate the uterus into action. Secondly, lovemaking will help trigger the release of oxytocin, which is the contraction hormone. Lastly the semen contains a high concentration of prostaglandins which will help to ripen, or soften, the neck of the womb.
Lots of Pineapple
The poky fruit, pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which softens the cervix and induces labour naturally. However, you must consume the pineapple fresh because the bromelain is destroyed by the process of canning or juicing.
Intake of Spicy Foods
Spicy food is often suggested as a means of bringing labour. Experts say that spicy food helps to stimulate the gut and bowel and this in turn encourages the uterus to get going, therefore bringing on the pain.
Best form of exercise: Walking
When you practice this form of exercise, you not only keep yourself fit, but the baby too. It is said that when you walk it helps to induce labour naturally as the baby's head presses down on the cervix from the inside thus stimulating the release of oxytocin, thereby bringing labour pain. This is one of the main reasons why you see a lot of women walking in the hospital before labour.
These are some of the ways in which you can induce labour naturally. These methods are safe for every pregnant mother to try out. However consult your doctor if you have complications.
