Why Pregnant Women Should Avoid Stairs
During pregnancy, it is very important to follow certain rules and regulations so that you have a safe pregnancy right through your nine months. There are some gynaecologists who state that there are a lot of exercises pregnant women should avoid during their pregnancy. Exercises like walking too fast, rigorous weight lifting during the first weeks of pregnancy and most importantly climbing the stairs is prohibited.
There is a lot of effort put in when a pregnant woman climbs a flight of stairs, and this could result in a miscarriage due to the pressure put on the foetus. Climbing a long flight of stairs will also put a pregnant woman at risk for it will lead to cramping and she might even feel dizzy too. Therefore, the safest option for pregnant women to follow is to take the elevator or the escalator during pregnancy.

Breathless
When a pregnant woman climbs a long flight of stairs, one of the common uneasiness things she would feel is breathless. This could be harmful to the foetus since the oxygen supply reduces as you climb up.

When you climb a flight of stairs, one of the main concerns you would have to face is if you slip and fall. This is a major reason as to why pregnant women should avoid climbing stairs.
Due to weight
After you have crossed a few months during pregnancy, you begin to feel the weight pressure on your back. This weight pulls you down causing you to fall or to feel giddy.
Lose balance
During pregnancy, there are times when you will begin to lose balance on your feet. So, if you are taking the stairs, losing your balance can put you to a great risk. Therefore, it is best for pregnant women to avoid climbing stairs.
Swollen feet
One of the common problems during pregnancy is swollen feet. When your feet begin to swell, do not opt to take the stairs. It will only add more pressure on your feet, and will give you a bodyache which is not good for health.
