Pregnancy Diet For Vegetarians
In pregnancy food has always been a major topic of discussion as a lot depends on diet for the development and growth of the baby and the well being of the mother. During pregnancy, one needs a extra dose of nutrients and non vegetarian food items are an easy source of nutrients but according to a recent research, vegan diet helps in preventing Type 1 Diabetes in child.
Vegetarian Pregnancy Diet -
1.Calcium – Calcium is one of the basic nutrient required during pregnancy. It promotes strong bones and teeth. It is also helps in muscle contraction and promotes a proper nervous system. Vegetarian pregnancy diet for calcium includes soy products, almonds, dark green vegetables and milk. These have to be taken in a higher quantity to fulfill your body's need of calcium.
2.Vitamin B12 – Vitamin B12 helps in promoting red blood cells and maintaining a healthy nervous system. The best source of Vitamin B12 is present in non vegetarian food but some vegetarian pregnancy diet rich in Vitamin B12 are fortified cereals, soy milk and nutritional yeast.
3.Protein – Protein is important for cell growth and blood production. Vegetarian pregnancy diet demands more intake of dried beans, peas, tofu and lentils to meet up the mark of the required protein for the baby and the mother. Dairy products should be a part of your every meal.
4.Vitamin D – Vitamin D is food for the skin and skin is one aspect which is highly affected during pregnancy. Skin patches, dull skin etc are common problems. The best source of Vitamin D is sunlight but as exposure to sunlight is not safe anymore, diet is the only way to fulfill it. Vegetarian pregnancy diet demands the inclusion of cows milk. Cow milk is a great source of Vitamin D.
