Does Cushing Syndrome Lead To Depression In Kids?
A new study claims that kids who suffered Cushing syndrome may have higher chances of suffering anxiety, depression and other such mental conditions after they grow up into adults.

Cushing syndrome occurs due to high levels of cortisol which is a stress hormone. In fact, tumours in the adrenal glands cause this disorder.
Generally, doctors remove the tumour in order to reduce the excess cortisol production. Other side effects of this disorder include high BP, obesity, kidney stones, bone fractures and diabetes.

A new study now says that it is better to check symptoms of depression in kids and teens who have battled with cushing syndrome.
As most of the kids or teenagers seldom know anything about depression, they may not be able to convey their elders about their feelings. So, parents and doctors must voluntarily check the symptoms to rule out depression.

In fact, this disorder can affect both adults and kids. As a part of the study, doctors observed more than 150 people who suffered the syndrome. Around 6% of the people who were treated for the disorder showed symptoms of depression, anxiety, irritability, rage and anger.

Generally, adults suffering from this syndrome tend to overcome depression after treatment but kids may develop depression after treatment. So, parents of children suffering from cushing syndrome may need to stay alert.
