How To Raise Independent Children?
Kids

The human child unlike other animals is most utterly helpless at birth. They cannot fend for themselves. Needless to say that they need to be taught everything. Here are a few very contemporary parenting tips that help you become a complete new age parent.
Parenting Skills Required For Raising Independent Children:
- Teaching children about responsibility is an theoretical exercise. Responsibility is better understood when taken and not taught. As they say when you are pushed into the water you learn to swim. When the child has responsibilities he or she will learn to cope.
- While raising kids to be self reliant you need to understand that this will not happen on its own. No child would like to leave the safe haven of a mother's lap but you have to prode them into doing it for their own good.
- Teach the child once and then see how he or she picks up from there. Encourage them to do little things on their own. For example, teach them to do the dishes one day and give them the duty to wash dishes on certain days of the week. If they break a few don't get mad. Its a learning process.
- For your children to be independent you have to teach them to do their own work by themselves. Don't wash their clothes, don't make their bed and never feed them with your own hands after a certain age. Let them clean their own room or stay in filth. If you raise your kids to believe that you will always do things for them like clean up, then they will never learn accountability.
- You have to take one step at a time. Children don't become independent in one day. Some children will resist, some will throw tantrums; they may even try to play on your parental guilt for not being able to give them all your time. But you have to be strong and stick to your policies. Moreover there are also children who welcome independence. So no matter which category your child falls under, there is way to deal him or her and you know it best.
- Counsel yourself before you counsel your child. If your heart keep wrenching at the sight of your child doing his/her own work then you will only make things difficult for them. First of all you have to believe that you are preparing the child for the future and that is a part of their good breeding.
Raise healthy independent children using these simple tips.
