Debt Busters To Teach Kids On Financial Problems

The game was created by Peter Hogan, who is a headmaster by profession at the school Loretto in Musselburg. Previosly Hogan also created the game 'Student Investor' 15 years ago, that trained students about stock market investment and allowed them to trade in real stock and shares.
Debt Busters deals with personal finances and is designed to train 13 year olds to understand money borrowing and help them face student loans in-store credit cards and mortgage repayments. The game will be launched in Loretto next term, and may be rolled out across Scottish schools from September.
The game could help young minds understand the real finances better and escape the problems of the credit crunch. It also trains the youngsters to keep track of the every day offers in the market.
"The Student Investor helped thousands of children understand more about the City and I know pupils in my care switched university courses as a result of getting excited about money and investments," the Scotsman quoted Hogan as saying.
"I hope Debt Busters will have the same impact. If we can persuade children to get involved with a bit of fun about debt, instead of it being a pretty miserable subject, they will engage with it," he added. AGENCIES
