How To Avoid Cartoon Mania In Kids? - Part 2
Find the right message
Some television programs may portray people as stereotypes. Talk with your child about the real-life roles of women, the elderly, and people that may not be shown on television. The cartoon characters may become role models for them and they may find them to be real ones. But it is your responsibility to take care of the fact that they realise that they are not real life characters and are just characters animated and made out of imaginations.
Help your child resist cartoons
Don't expect your child to be able to resist ads for toys, candy, snacks, cereal, drinks, or new TV programs without your help. It is important that you are there to help make the child understand that too much watching of the cartoons are a total waste of time.
Look for quality children's channels other than cartoons.
There are many quality channels available for children that you can show. They can be quiz or general knowledge shows that might help them immensely. Try and cultivate interest in them for these kinds of shows.
Give other options
Watching TV or cartoons can become a habit for your child. Help your child find other things to do with his time, such as the following:
Playing
Reading
Activities with family, friends, or neighbors
Learning a hobby, sport, instrument, or an art
Set a good example
You are the most important role model in your child's life. Limiting your own TV viewing and choosing programs carefully will help your child do the same. You can help him create the right program beneficial for him.
Encourage your children and guide them to choose the right kind of show that will provide as a learning lesson for them.
Get more information
Get information from different sites and newspapers and know the latest news and trends. Try to get rid of these issues for your child's benefit. Start early to work on this and don't delay, as then you will make it all the more worse.
