Why A Missed Period Can't Be Pregnancy
Missed period is often amounted to pregnancy in most women but, there are also several counter reasons why a missed period needn't be due to pregnancy. As per the textbook definition, menstrual cycle consists of 28 days that commences at the age of 13 yrs in most girls. The cycle may last from 3-7 days depending on the physiology of individual. Most small or young girls do not face the dilemma of pregnancy due to lack of intimacy, however, adult women often face the impasse post intimacy phase.
Why Ovulating Women Look Irresistible
Beneath are some enlisted facts that would convince each woman about why missed period can’t be pregnancy. The complication of missed or delayed menstrual cycle may be broadly divided into three subheadings namely, primary Amenorrhea, secondary Amenorrhea and Oligomenorrhea.
The primary Amenorrhea, or missed periods, occurs in the initial stage of menstrual cycle at the age of 13-15 yrs in young girls. The girls miss their periods due to genetic abnormalities or underlying problems in the reproductive system or organs of the body.
The next is secondary Amenorrhea occurs when the periods stop abruptly after normal periods in the past. One of the main reasons for this may be pregnancy but, may not be the only answer to the problem.
Can Work Stress Affect Pregnancy?
Lastly, Oligomenorrhea, is a medical condition in which women experience less than 8 periods in each year as compared to 12-14 periods each year. In some severe cases, secondary Amenorrhea may be the reason behind Oligomenorrhea along with the combination of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

Stress
Stress and anxiety can be counted as one of the most common reasons for missed or delayed periods.
An ovulation Missed periods can also be due to ovulation problems in women. Many women miss ovulation or due to some underlying problems with the ovaries such as polycystic ovary syndrome.

Weight-age
Women with weight difficulties namely, under and overweight, often face the worry pertaining to missed periods.

Medication
Ask your doctor about the side effects of any medication that s/he might be prescribing for a prolonged duration as it might answer your question of why you missed a period. This can also be a point for why missed period can't be pregnancy always.

Birth Control Pills
Birth control pills do have side effects such as nausea, fatigue and weight gain as per the labels. However, most pills also result in delayed or missed periods.

Lactation
During breast feeding phase most women experience missed or delayed problems affected by the lactation cycle.

Hormones
Hormonal changes in the body could also explain the reasons why missed periods can't be pregnancy in most cases.

Diet And Exercise Regime
Certain rigorous exercises and diet regimes may affect the reproductive cycle in women leading to early or delayed periods depending upon the physiology of the individual.

Pituitary And Thyroid Gland Illnesses
Most doctors link the irregularities in menstrual cycle to the development of cysts or other abnormalities of pituitary and thyroid gland.

Menopausal
In the menopausal phase, women suffer from overly frequent or delayed periods. The gap between periods may even stretch from 3-12 months at times.

Jetlag
A sudden change in the routine or time orientation caused due to overseas travelling or jetlag may also hinder the normal cycle of periods.
