At Least 25 Killed After Bengaluru-Bound Bus Catches Fire In Kurnool In Andhra
A bus fire tragedy near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, has reportedly claimed at least 25 lives after a private Kaveri Travels bus, en route from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, was completely gutted in flames early this morning. The bus had approximately 40 people on board.
The incident occurred near Chinnatekuru village on the outskirts of Kurnool district around 3:00 a.m. on Friday (October 24, 2025).

Cause of the Fire
According to Kurnool Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil, the fire is believed to have started after the Volvo AC bus struck a two-wheeler, which then became lodged underneath the vehicle.
"At around 3, a volvo bus of Kaveri travels was going from Hyderabad to Bengaluru. It hit a two-wheeler and it got stuck under the bus. That probably caused a spark and led to fire," NDTV quoted Patil as saying.
Rescue Efforts and Survivors
The AC nature of the bus made escape difficult, forcing passengers to break open windows. Patil confirmed that 15 people were rescued and have been admitted to a hospital. "Whoever could break open the glass are safe," he added.
Initial reports indicate that 12 passengers managed to escape the blaze. One survivor, speaking from the hospital, recounted helping four people escape but expressed distress that some of his family members were still trapped in the flames.
