Bhojpuri Star Pawan Singh's wife Jyoti Singh to contest Bihar Election from Karakat Independently
Adding a political twist to a highly publicised marital dispute, Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh, on Monday announced that she will contest the Bihar Assembly elections as an independent candidate from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district. Her decision comes just a day after her father, Rambabu Singh, revealed her plans to enter politics.
Confirming the move, Rambabu Singh said, "Jyoti Singh will contest the Assembly elections in Bihar. From which seat and under which party banner-or as an independent-will be decided soon." Later, Jyoti clarified that she had chosen to contest independently from Karakat, citing overwhelming support from the local population.

Strong Support in Karakat
According to Jyoti's father, the people of Karakat have been urging her to enter politics, having built a connection with her during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections when she campaigned extensively for her husband. "The people of Karakat trust Jyoti Singh and want her to represent them in the Assembly," Rambabu said, expressing confidence that her grassroots rapport would translate into electoral strength.
Marital Dispute in the Public Eye
The announcement comes at a turbulent time in Jyoti's personal life. Her ongoing marital dispute with Pawan Singh has become a matter of public discussion. Rambabu Singh has accused the actor of cruelty and deceit, claiming that all attempts to resolve the issue amicably have failed. "I pleaded with him to accept my daughter, but he only referred to the court," Rambabu said. "Until the divorce is finalised, Jyoti has every right to live with her husband."
Sources close to the family revealed that during their last meeting three months ago, Pawan Singh informed Rambabu that the matter would now be settled legally.
Bihar Polls on the Horizon
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases-on November 6 and November 11-with results on November 14. Jyoti Singh's political debut, set against the backdrop of her troubled marriage, is already generating buzz in the state's political circles, positioning her as an unexpected new face in the upcoming electoral contest.
