In the 1970s, the conflict between Egypt and Israel became extremely severe and due to this thousands of civilians and soldiers lost their lives. Some were even brutally tortured and executed. This was known as Yom Kippur War. As a response to this Arizona State University graduate Brian McCormack and Harvard graduate Michael McCormack in 1973, introduced the concept of World Hello Day and use it as an instrument to preserve peace and sanity across the globe. Since, then, World Hello Day is celebrated all over the world.

World Hello Day is observed the people in 180 countries. Further, people also use this day to express their concern for peace in the world and send messages to leaders, encouraging judicious use of communication to settle conflicts.
