Designer Pochampally Collection Showcased At Taj!

The collection recreates the richness and feel of ancient Han- Atlas fabric- a multi hued hand woven and hand dyed Ikat fabric of early 19th century Central Asia that was popular with traders on the silk route and stood as a symbol of luxury and power Ikat from Pochampally is traditionally geometric. In this designer collection, the craft has been reinterpreted in a neo graphic manner reanimating traditional as was seen in the fashion show in Mumbai, Indian motifs such as leaves, flowers, blossoming buds, and peacocks. The garments, with their orchestrated placement of floral motifs come to life as the rhythm of colors transmutes seamlessly into classic attire.
What Is Designer Collection & Where To Buy It?
The haute couture designer collection features a range of wraps, rich coats, tunics, and saris- all following the theme of being contemporary yet classic and aiming to present the splendor of Ikat weave from Pochampally in its pristine form. The designer collection will be on exhibit and sale at The Golden Room, The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai on 16th January, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 pm and at the Taj Khazana store in Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 17th January, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

About Rahul Mishra
Rahul Mishra, is also known as the Pride of the National Institue of Design. A post graduate from NID, he went on to be the first Non- European Designer to win the prestigious Scholarship at the Instituto Marangoni. After showcasing his eponymous label of designer collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2006, he was rated amongst best designers for that year. Much rewarded and awarded Rahul Mishra was voted as Pepsi MTV Youth Icon for year 2009; further in 2009 he went on winning the INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER OF THE YEAR award at IAF (International Apparel Federation) annual convention held in Netherlands. He is staunch believer in integrating the rich heritage of Indian cotton and craft with the constantly varying pulse of global fashion with ethnic Indian clothing.
