Rat Fur Now On ramp shows

Rat Fur, Fashion Shows
Would it not surprise you that rat fur would become a part of a ramp ensemble?

Apart from mink, fox and rabbit, rat fur is now going to adorn fashion outfits on the ramp.

You could doubt the credibility of the news as to how the fur of a small creature as a rat can make way for fashion garments.

Well the fact is that the fur of 'Bayou water rat', also known as 'Nutria', is 60 cm long and weighs nearly 9 kg is what is to be used.

The fur of this rat has been featured on the ramp clothes in a number of autumn/winter 2010 catwalks.
Rat fur has catered to the creativity and taste of different fashion designers.

Billy Reid, the designer from Alabama used 'Nutria' fur for his innovations in collars, hats and evening cape.
Fashion house J Mendel used it more decoratively by showing it patchworked with precious pelts on coats and gilets.

Oscar de la Renta had it on jewel toned coats on their hems as a thick trim.

Last autumn, Cree McCree, an artist from New Orleans came up with a fashion initiative for Nutria fur that can be ethically sourced.

It is top be noted that she made money out of Nutria teeth made earrings for 30 dollars and necklaces for 60 to 75 dollars.

As per 'The Guardian' that quoted her, “I want to show the remarkable ways that nutria can be used and highlight how vital it is to protect our wetlands"

'Style.com' said of this new Nutria resource for novel fashion innovations, “The ladies of Park Avenue will be mighty pleased indeed"
