Taylor Swift became the most-awarded artist in MTV VMA history, taking her career total to 33 Moon Persons after winning three awards at the 2026 ceremony. She had been tied with Beyoncé before the show.

Her wins included Video of the Year for 'The Fate of Ophelia' and Best Direction for 'Opalite.' She also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors, a new award recognising artists whose work behind the camera has expanded music-video storytelling.

For the red carpet, Taylor Swift chose a Tamara Ralph Fall 2026 Couture gown that combined dark glamour with plenty of sparkle. The look featured a sleeveless midnight-blue velvet mock-neck bodice with mesh cutouts, flowing into a draped silver sequined column skirt. The asymmetrical skirt included a thigh-high slit, adding movement to the otherwise structured silhouette.

She completed the look with dangling diamond earrings, sparkling footwear and her engagement ring. The contrast between the dark velvet and glittering silver sequins gave the outfit a distinctly theatrical finish, fitting the showgirl aesthetic surrounding her current music era.
