Salman Khan And Bigg Boss 20: Separating Rumour From Confirmation
For weeks, one question has dominated Bigg Boss fan pages and WhatsApp groups: is Salman Khan actually hosting Bigg Boss 20, or is this just another round of TV gossip getting ahead of itself?
The answer, as of now, is more settled than the noise around it suggests. According to a Variety India report, Salman Khan is confirmed to return as host of Bigg Boss 20, marking his 17th consecutive season fronting the franchise since he first took over from Bigg Boss 4 in 2010. Colors TV itself hasn't put out an official announcement yet, which is exactly why the speculation has had room to spiral.
Where The Confusion Started
Early in June, multiple entertainment outlets ran versions of the same story, sourced from unnamed insiders rather than the channel. Some carried headline framing like "Bigg Boss 20 CONFIRMED with Salman Khan as host?" - question mark included, confirmation implied. That gap between suggestive headlines and actual official word is what's kept fans debating for weeks.
There was also a brief detour in the rumour mill about a June 2026 premiere, which has since been ruled out. That slot went instead to Rohit Shetty's Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, currently filming in Cape Town.
What's Actually Confirmed So Far
Here's where things stand, based on reporting rather than speculation:
- Salman Khan is set to return as host, his 17th straight season with the show
- Bigg Boss 20 is expected to begin shooting around September 21, 2026
- It will air on Colors TV and stream on JioHotstar, mirroring the Bigg Boss 19 setup
- The season is expected to mark two decades of the franchise, with reports suggesting a mix of returning faces and fresh contestants
- Casting is currently underway, with names like rapper Santy Sharma being floated as early probables - though the makers haven't confirmed any contestant list yet
Khan is currently occupied with an untitled action thriller directed by Vamsi Paidipally, co-starring Nayanthara, and his team is reportedly working to wrap a major portion of that shoot before Bigg Boss 20 begins.
Why The "Confirmed" Label Still Feels Shaky
Until Colors TV or JioHotstar puts out an official teaser or press statement, every report - including this one - is built on sourcing, not a network announcement. That's normal for Bigg Boss; the show has leaned on manufactured suspense before its season launches for years now. It just means fans should treat "confirmed" as confirmed-by-reporting, not confirmed-by-the-channel, until a teaser actually drops.
The short version: all signals point to Salman Khan hosting Bigg Boss 20, and September 21 is the date to watch. But an official announcement from Colors TV is still the missing piece - and until that lands, the "is he or isn't he" debate isn't fully over, just quieter.
