You may try to hide it, stifle it or pretend like it never happened, but you cannot deny that yawning is something that frequently gets you into trouble. This seeming harmless, involuntary act of the body is the bane of many people's existence.

Most people yawn when they are tired, but sometimes people yawn when they are feeling bored or sleepy at the wrong time. Let us look at some of the funny reasons that make us yawn.

The Chain
Whenever one person starts yawning, it sets of a chain. Yawns are contagious, so every time you see anybody yawn, even if it is a stranger, you are forced to mirror their action. Yawns, like diseases, are infectious. One of the funny reasons we yawn is because somebody sets off a chain of yawning.

Your Friend
We all have that one friend who deliberately looks right into your eye whenever they feel a yawn coming. And your body will not be able to resist the temptation and will definitely betray you by letting out a huge yawn. And your friend always makes sure they yawn at you during a most inopportune time.

Reading
One of the funny reasons we yawn is when we read about it. While we are reading a book, if we come across a description of some character yawning, we yawn ourselves, without even being aware of it. This is applicable even when you read an article on yawning.

Boring Lecture
Every time you attend a boring lecture, you end up yawning for about 15 minutes in the lecture. This might be because you are feeling drowsy, lethargic or just plain bored.
Such yawns will always set off a chain of yawning throughout the class.

Serious Meetings
You will inevitably yawn during a serious meeting. The chances will increase ever more when you make up your mind not to yawn, even if the Earth implodes. You might try to stifle it, but your yawn will definitely burst through in the end and you will be thoroughly embarrassed.

Group Assemblies
One of the funny reasons we yawn is due to boredom. And group assemblies are always tedious and monotonous. Nobody can sit through a group assembly without yawning even once.

Television
Every time you see somebody yawn on TV, you are forced to imitate their actions. This funny reason for yawning is due to the infectious nature of yawning. This involuntary act of the body takes place when you see somebody yawn over the internet as well.
