Partners Cheat, Friends Don't

By Suparna Chakaraborthy

Friendship
Friendship is more important than sex to the present generation, as said by a top social demographer, Bernard Salt.

With the social relations falling apart quite easily, people have come to value friendship much more. The divorce rates have increased, children betrayal are on a rise. At this time of distress all that remains is friends.

Bernard Salt explains, the believe of the new generation is that, partners may come and go, children may leave but what always remains is a friend.

"There is an increasing role now to be played by friends. The feeling is that husbands may come and go, partners may come and go, children may come and go, but your friends will always be there," he says.

The truth is that we have something to hide from parents, few secrets we never reveal to our partners but one other person than us who has shared our tears and joys is the friend.

It has been noticed that the now generation is likes to build up friendly relations rather than falling for a relationship. It is also believed by them that once friendship converts into an affair, the relationship loses it's charm.

This attitude have also threatened that social system of marriage. The number of reports of broken marriages and failed affairs have led the present generation to ignore the union of marriage.
