Flaunt The 'Dissolvable Wedding Gown'

By Suparna Chakaraborthy

Wedding Gown
Girls and shopping go hand in hand. Clothes, accessories, makeup, buying all these seem inevitable as they all are linked to each other. Girls are most possessive about two things, clothes and husbands. But the dress which is more important than the man, is the wedding gown.

An American survey claims that an average women spends 1,056 dollars, only on her wedding dress. After the the day the gown slowly looses it's charm and then is forgotten. Students of Sheffield Hallam University wanted to challenge this notion of throw away fashion. They aimed to make a statement about the attitude of wear-and-wash and wash-and-waste. Thus they have come up with what is called a 'Dissolvable Wedding Gown'.

It is a cheaper wedding gown which can be made up into five different dresses and once it comes in contact with water it dissolves into nothing. This is made possible by knitting the polyvinyl alcohol into the dress which is a biodegradable substance used in washing detergents. This substance allows he dress to dissolve leaving no impact on the environment. The dress however is not sensitive to perspiration or weather changes.

The best part is that the wedding gown can be stripped to a skirt, to a corset, to a hip hot pants etc. So, now rather than keeping your wedding gown just as a tattered memento of memory, you can actually live it in different styles before finally 'dissolving' it goodbye.
