Aussie Kids' TV Viewing Habits

By Devaki

Kids And TV
The poor Aussie kids spend an extra of 42 minutes before the TV screens and games consoles, compared to the wealthy counterparts, says a new research.

This makes the well-off counterparts spend over 30 minutes more a day, than the poorer peers at school, for studying, australia, children, reading, television, triglyceride, upanishads, doing the homeworks and extracurricular activities. Around 30 percent kids, belonging to nine to 16 years of age, in Australia comes under this well-off group.

The studies also reveal that richer children also take 20 minutes more each day for sports and 10 minutes more having food.

An extra 40 minutes a day will be three hours a week, which the poor children also can utilize for their better future. So it does go some way in explaining the educational differences between wealthier and poorer students, say Tim Olds, the lead author of the studies.

''It tells us we need to look at ways in which parents can be helped to get kids away from the screen," adds Tim.
