Is The First Impression, The Best Impression?

By Staff

First Impression
The ever-famous proverb says the first impression is the best impression for any human being. Is that true in the current lifestyle? Neuroscientists at New York University and Harvard University don't seem to believe so.

We all have some social feelings encoded in our brain in accordance with our lifestyle. When we meet a person, we encode this social information to judge the people initially. The encoding rise to impressions formed immediately after meeting a new person.

Just imagine the situation of getting the profile of an unknown person. The profile may include scenarios indicating both positive traits (e.g., intelligent) and negative ones (e.g., lazy) in their depictions. Your liking and disliking for the profiled person may depend on the traits featured with the person.

In this case it can be summarized that our first impression has nothing to do with the real character of the person we are meeting. Our comfort or discomfort feeling towards them can change in the process of time. Yes, we have to think now-Is the first impression, the best impression?
