Meru Taxi service launched in Bangalore
The metered Meru taxi service is launched in Bangalore. V-Link taxis announced the launch of the said service. Initially, 500 Mahindra Logan air conditioned vehicles complete the fleet.
Out of 500 taxis, 400 would be dedicated to the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) and would start operations on May 11. The exceptional feature with these cars is that all Meru cabs would be fitted with electronic meters and printers and would use GPS-based technology to enable real-time location and dispatch.
The charge to use a Meru taxi would be Rs. 15 per km as per the rules of Karnataka Government.
The company already launched its operations in Delhi and Hyderabad last month. The first launched was in Mumbai last year and had received good customer response.
Meru radio taxi service is the first of it's kind in India. Meru was modeled on the best cab services in the world like in Singapore and London.
Every fare that a Meru collects is digitally transmitted back to the control center where it is recorded for reference. Each cab has an on board printer which gives a printed receipt for the fare collected. The digital tamper proof meter on board and the printed receipt for fares ensure that the passenger pays strictly in line with the fare structure and no more.
