15 Different Types Of Breads To Try
Bread is a staple food prepared by baking dough of flour and water. It is popular around the world and is one of the world's oldest foods. Each region has its own form of bread prepared according to locally available ingredients and culture. Breads are prepared by using many different flours made from wheat, rye, barley, maize (corn), oats etc. Each of these breads will have unique texture and taste. Breads come in different shapes, sizes and patterns according to their method of preparation. A wheat loaf bread is made fluffy wile a pizza bread or an Indian Naan is made flat.
Different breads use different additives and stuffing to give it a different flavour and texture. These stuffings are usually done as per regional taste. In places across India, buns are stuffed with local stuffing like spiced potato or spiced egg for taste and unique regional flavour. Similarly various Indian breads such as naan, roti, parathas etc are prepared differently, mixed with different herbs and stuffing. Breads can be sweet, sour or spicy as per their additives
and stuffing.
Breads are mostly eaten at all the meals or as a snack. French have their bread just about any time of the day with breakfast, lunch or dinner and sometimes as a snack, Indians have their version of bread similarly. Americans live on sandwiches and burgers of which bread takes different forms and flavours to compliment them. Let us take a look at different types of breads across the world that you need to try.

Corn Bread
Corn bread is highly popular in southern parts of USA. Its made from ground corn (maize). Cornbread is a popular item in soul food enjoyed by many people for its texture and aroma. Cornbread can be baked, fried or rarely, steamed.

Cuban Bread
It is a Cuban-American cuisine which uses a regular white bread but has a slightly different baking method and ingredients involved. It has a hard, thin, almost papery toasted crust and a soft flaky middle.

French Bread
It's a wheat bread which is popularly had across France and Europe generally for any meal of the day. It's a well known bread across the world referred to as baguette. It is distinguishable by its length and crisp crust.

Naan
Its made of white flour and baked in a oven. Naan is a popular version of flat bread that's eaten across India along with a curry. It is also baked with a flavoured stuffing that varies across regions and gives it unique flavour.

Poori
This is a popular form of bread across southern parts of India which is typically a flat rolled dough that's deep fried in ghee or vegetable oil to make it puff up like a round ball. Its most commonly served for breakfast.

Focaccia
Focaccia is a flat oven-baked Italian bread, which is sometimes topped with herbs or other ingredients. It is popular in Italy and is usually seasoned with olive oil and salt, and occasionally with vegetables and herbs resembling a pizza.

Fry Bread
Fry bread is a flat dough fried or deep-fried in oil, shortening, or lard. Fry bread is usually eaten alone or with various toppings such as honey, jam, or hot beef. It is considered as a simple complement to meals.

Soda Bread
It is a type of quick bread traditionally made in a variety of cuisines in which baking soda is used instead of the more common yeast along with butter milk. Its popular among Irish with its origin traced to native American Indians.

Pita Bread
Pita is a slightly leavened wheat bread, flat, either round or oval and comes in many different sizes. It is eaten along with a dip, hummus or to wrap kababs or in falafel. Highly popular in Middle East countries.

Challah
This special Jewish braided bread is eaten on Sabbath and holidays. Traditionally Challah is made of eggs, fine white flour, water, sugar, yeast, and salt and rolled into rope-shaped pieces. It uses no dairy and meat as per tradition.

Pan de Muertos
This Mexican is eaten on Día de los Muertos, at the ravesite or altar of the deceased. Pan de Muertos in Spanish means bread for the dead. This sweet egg bread is usually laced with anise or orange flower water.

Basque Pumpkin Bread
This is a type of cornbread which is moist and flavorful with the wonderful subtle taste of pumpkin. It is slightly sweet and dense. This Native American food has been a part of the French Basque cuisine for almost 400 years.

Pretzel
A pretzel is a type of baked bread which is made from dough most commonly found in a unique knot-like shape. With its origins in Europe, pretzels of various shapes are available around the world.

Pao de Queijo
This Brazilian bread is a variety of small, baked, cheese-flavoured rolls which is a popular snack and breakfast food in parts of Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina.

Rye Bread
This is a dark coloured bread popular in Europe since the middle ages. It is made of just grounded rye flour, or sometimes mixed with wheat flour. It is higher in fibre than white bread and is often darker in colour and stronger in flavour.
