Holy Rivers In India One Must Visit!

The spiritual essence of India, lies deep within our souls and this lifestyle of Indian natives have thus created a stir in Western nations, where one would see a number of foreigners absorbing pure spiritual life in cites like Varanasi, Haridwar Rikishesh, foothills of the Great Himalayas and down South you have the famous Holy city, Tiruvannamalai!
Other than these places, a number of people pay homage to Holy rivers, where it is said that the water is pure and thus purifies a person of his sins.
Here are the Holy Rivers in India!
1.Cauvery River – This holy river, situated in the Southern part of India is crowded all through the year, where you would a see a number of devotees taking a dip in The Cauvery River having the faith of attaining Moksha. The story of this Holy River In India, The Cauvery River has quite a tale, about a woman named Kaveri, who in fear, thinking her husband was in danger on his way home jumped into this water, but did not die! It was later known that Kaveri, disappeared and became one with the water, which flowed into a waterfall. It was only after this, people believed in this miracle and thus followed to pay respect to Kaveri!
2.Godawari River – Originating from the hills of the Tryanibal at Nasik, the Godawari River, is said to be holy water as it is believed, if one takes a dip, he/she will be cleansed of all sins. The month of Makar or Shravan is said to be an auspicious time for the Hindus in the Hindu calendar, where the Godawari River is extremely crowded and people flocking to the Someshwar and Kapaleshwar temples to receive the darshan of Lord Shankara. The Godawari River is also the second largest Holy River In India, where foreigners also pay homage.
3.Ganga River – From far and near, billions of people are aware of this Holy River In India, the Ganga. This Holy River In India is a spiritual icon as a number of people come here to immerse themselves and cleanse their soul. It is also said that Hindus store this holy water in bottles, at home where they use it for religious ceremonies! The ancient story of the sage who cursed King Sagra's sons and turned them to ashes beside the river Ganga was washed away when King Bhagiratha, brought the holy river, Ganga, to earth, thereby purifying their souls and taking them to heaven. It is only after this, Hindus throw the ashes of their lost ones in belief that their souls will be purified and given a place in heaven.
