Hindi Diwas 2023: 10 Prominent Hindi Writers, Poets Who Revolutionized Hindi Language
Hindi Diwas 2023: India has a rich literary tradition, and Hindi literature, and it has produced many prominent poets, and writers, who have made significant contributions. Hindi is a language that holds the third position in the list of most spoken languages. A total of about 585.5 million people worldwide speak Hindi as their mother tongue.
Every year, it is celebrated on 14 September 2023. In this post, we have listed prominent poets, and authors of India. Know about them.

1. Munshi Premchand (1880-1936)
Often referred to as the "Upanyas Samrat" (Emperor of Novels), Premchand is one of the most celebrated and influential Hindi writers of the 20th century. His works, such as "Godan," "Nirmala," and "Gaban," address social issues and human relationships. He wrote over 300 short stories, 14 novels, essays, letters, plays and translations.
2. Jaishankar Prasad (1889-1937)
A renowned poet and playwright, Jaishankar Prasad is known for his romantic and philosophical poetry. His works include "Kamayani" and "Arunodaya." He is known as one of the four pillars of the Chhayavad style of Hindi Literature.
3. Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala' (1896-1961)
Nirala was a prolific poet, novelist, and essayist. His poetry reflects a wide range of themes, from social issues to spiritual exploration. "Ram Ki Shakti Puja" and "Saroj Smriti" are some of his notable works. He was also known for his contemporary sketches.
4. Sumitranandan Pant (1900-1977)
Sumitranandan Pant is a renowned modern Hindi poet known for his romantic and lyrical poetry. His famous works include "Gunjan," "Chidambara," and "Pallav." Also, his poems were inspired by nature, people as well as beauty within.
5. Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar' (1908-1974)
Dinkar was a poet, freedom fighter, essayist, and academician known for his patriotic and socially relevant poetry. His notable works include "Rashmirathi" and "Urvashi."
6. Harivansh Rai Bachchan (1907-2003)
A prolific poet, writer of the Nayi Kavita literary movement of early 20th century Hindi literature, and essayist, Harivansh Rai Bachchan is widely known for his poem "Madhushala" and his autobiography, "Kya Bhooloon Kya Yaad Karoon."
7. Amrita Pritam (1919-2005)
Amrita Pritam was a prolific Punjabi and Hindi writer and poet. Her notable works include "Pinjar," "Kagaz Te Canvas," and "Rasidi Ticket." In 1956, she received Sahitya Akademi Award.
8. Raghuvir Sahay (1929-1990)
A modern Hindi poet, Raghuvir Sahay is known for his introspective and philosophical poetry. His notable works include "Neelambar" and "Tarpan." He was also a short-story writer, essayist, literary critic, translator, and journalist.
9. Kamleshwar (1932-2007)
Kamleshwar was a prolific Hindi writer and screenwriter known for his novel "Kitne Pakistan" and his contributions to Indian cinema. He is also known for his works in films Aandhi, Mausam, Chhoti Si Baat, and Rang Birangi.
10. Dharmavir Bharti (1926-1997)
Dharamvir Bharati was a prominent Hindi poet, author, playwright, and social thinker of India. From 1960 to 1987, he was the chief editor of the popular Hindi weekly magazine Dharmayug. His novel Gunaho Ka Devta became a classic and he is also known for works like Gunahon Ka Devta (1949) Suraj ka Satwan Ghoda (1952) and the play Andha Yug (1953). Bharati was awarded the Padma Shree for literature in 1972.
