Gender-wise data reveals that female students outperformed their male counterparts, achieving a pass percentage of 88.86% compared to 82.13% for boys.
Students can now check their results at results.cbse.nic.in, cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and via the DigiLocker and UMANG mobile apps.

What's New This Year: On-Screen Marking
This year, CBSE evaluated Class 12 answer sheets using its newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Under this process, scanned copies of answer sheets were checked digitally instead of a physical evaluation. CBSE introduced the system to improve transparency, accuracy, and speed in the assessment process while reducing manual handling of papers.
Under the OSM system, physical answer sheets are not distributed to teachers at home. Instead, the sheets are scanned and uploaded to a centralised digital platform, where trained examiners evaluate them on-screen from designated marking centres. Evaluation time has been cut from approximately 12 days to around 9 days per subject - a key reason why results arrived earlier than many students anticipated.
However, the transition has not been without friction. Several teachers flagged concerns regarding the newly introduced OSM model, noting that it has resulted in increased fatigue and a higher frequency of corrections. Educators across several states reported that the transition from manual to digital evaluation has been more stressful than smooth, with insufficient training cited as a key issue.
Grading System Explained
For theory subjects, students scoring between 91 and 100 are awarded grade A1 (Outstanding), while 81 to 90 receives A2 (Excellent). Marks between 71 and 80 fall under B1 (Very Good), and 61 to 70 are graded B2 (Good). Those scoring 51 to 60 receive C1 (Above Average), 41 to 50 get C2 (Average), and 33 to 40 are awarded grade D and declared pass. Students scoring below 33 marks are placed in E1 or E2 grades, indicating failure.
Students must score at least 33% marks in each subject to pass - this minimum requirement applies separately to both theory and practical or internal assessment components. Students will not be declared pass solely on the basis of the overall aggregate if they fail to secure the minimum qualifying marks in any individual subject.
Grace Marks Policy
Grace marks may be awarded to students falling short of the passing criteria by 1 to 2 marks. Grace marks can also be awarded in cases of difficult questions, printing errors, or out-of-syllabus questions.

What Happens If You Are In Compartment
Students placed in a compartment - meaning they failed in one subject - are not required to repeat the full academic year. The compartment exam is held in July. Clearing it means the student passes that year without repeating the full board. The application window opens shortly after the results; students should check cbse.gov.in immediately as deadlines are firm.
