Apple's Vision Pro: Will You Want To Wear A Mixed Reality Headset On A Daily Basis?

Apple device promises new experiences and therefore, those who cannot afford them will surely aspire to purchase them. A mixed reality headset, it combines AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality).

During Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (AWDC) 2023, CEO Tim Cook introduced Vision Pro, a headset that has personalised the technology and is literally a case for a computer on your face that blends into your surroundings. This is Apple's first product 'You look through and not at'.

Instead of confusing the audience by introducing new terms, the brand talked about novel ways through which this new headset can unite the online world, where we spend most of our time every day. Like all other Apple products, this one has a price tag to match, an eye-watering $3,499!

This new product will seamlessly blend the real world with the digital world and looks extremely sleeker than its competitors. It is equipped with features that no one on the market currently offers.

The Vision Pro comes with a differentiation feature, which is a screen on the front of the device which is called 'EyeSight', that shows the eyes and eyebrows of the person wearing the device.

All you need to do is strap on this headset and you will see a virtual world on a high-resolution screen that sits right next to your eyes. By just adjusting a dial and external cameras, you can mix the real world around you. The screen on its outside allows other people to peer inside your eyes and understand what you're up to.

The product will launch next year and the hype has already been carefully created around the product by the brand. However, the question remains, would anyone want to wear or use it on a regular basis? That too when you can easily grab your smartphone, tab or even your TV remote.

Rivals in the market, be it Meta, Google, Microsoft and other brands tried and failed to provide clarity with their own set of AR and VR devices. Is it safe to assume that it is the solution to a problem, we are yet to find?
