Glitz N Glamour At The Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival or le Festival de Cannes as it is locally known dates back to 1946. Ever since, the glitz and glamour on the red carpet continued. It"s the world"s oldest and the most prestigious film festival.

The 63rd annual Cannes Film Festival was inaugurated on May 12th and will go on till 23rd of the month.

Several celebrities attended the Red Carpet ceremony to mark the opening of the festival. Russell Crowe, Salma Hayek and Cate Blanchet were also a part of the inaugural event.

The Aussie actress Cate Blanchet, who is at the Cannes Film Festival for the screening of Robin Hood, was seen wearing a black gown, designed by late British designer, Alexander McQueen.

The black, ankle-length, off-shoulder gown, emblazoned on the front and back by a silver eagle in flight. The dress was part of McQueen's pre-fall 2010 collection.

Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone are the Bollywood actresses to attend the prestigious festival.
