As revealed by the tourism minister Desley Boyle, they are stormed with applications and the site is expecting a heavy hit rate. "We're not sure if people have been holding out to size up the quality of the opposition, or whether they have just caught onto this worldwide phenomenon, but we are seeing a significant increase," News.com.au quoted Boyle as saying.
"20,000 people from over 180 countries have so far applied for the role of Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef in what has become arguably the most talked-about job vacancy in the world," she added.
The job winner will be expected to take care and explore the neighbouring islands, swim, snorkel, discover wildlife, and the locals. Boyle stated that the campaign has been the most successful tourism promotions ever, with over 2.3 million people rushing in to apply. AGENCIES
