JK Rowling's Hand-Prints Preserved
In a new honor for the British author J K Rowling, the hand prints of the renowned writer will be preserved for posterity in Scotland's capital Edinburgh. This is the place where she is known to have first penned her novel 'Harry Potter'.

Rowling first began writing about the boy wizard in a cafe in Edinburgh and already has been immortalised in a stone that has been given pride of place outside the City Chambers. After winning the second person to win the Civic award last year, she will now have her hand prints done accordingly.

The first individual to receive the Civic award was the 'Rebus' author Ian Rankin, the award recognises the outstanding achievements of the persons who bring honour to the city.

"I was delighted to receive the Edinburgh Award, as this city and its wonderful inhabitants have meant so much to me for the last 15 years," the Scotsman quoted her as saying.

"It is particularly appropriate for a writer's hands to be represented, so I am deeply honoured to have my keyboard-chipped fingernails, not to mention my pen-induced friction callous, commemorated in the place where I produced Harry Potter," she added. AGENCIES
