Stress Management As A School Curriculum

By Super Admin

Nagpur : Femina Miss India World Parvathy Omanakuttan feels that stress management should be made part of the school curriculum to help teenagers tackle adolescence.

Ms Omanakuttan, who was in the city to launch the BBA degree courses at the local centre of Global Retail School and Flying Cats Institute, said that with the rise in number of students committing suicide, schools should teach students ways to deal with stress and anxiety at the elementary education level itself. School kids must be encouraged to take up hobbies to help them deal with stress, she told UNI.

Ms Omanakuttan said regular counselling of adolescents and their parents, by teachers would also help bring down the suicide rate. "Encouraging children to aim for the sky is all right, but we need to teach them at schools to fix small goals and attain them one at a time," she said.

Asserting that social service was high in her plans for the future, Ms Omanakuttan, who will represent India at the forthcoming Miss World contest, said she would like to be involved in spreading awareness against suicides and for the welfare of children, senior citizens and women.
