Queen Elizabeth To Buy 7 Million Pound Private Jet

Queen Elizabeth 2
The life of the rich and the famous exudes power and luxury, but guess who is suffering from a certain lack of luxury? The dear old Queen Elizabeth herself.

The British Queen will spend seven million pound on her own private jet, which would be the first in her 50-years reign.

Currently, Queen Elizabeth shares the use of VIP flights with Government ministers and military chiefs. The Sun reported that the Queen has asked four luxury aircraft makers to come up with plans for the seven million pound royal plane, dubbed Monarch Air, and will personally choose the winning design by Christmas.

The four firms approached to design the jet are Learjet, Raytheon Hawker, Cessna Citation and Gulfstream. The Cessna Citation SOVEREIGN could be an appropriate plane. The 82 year-old Queen decided to splash out on a plane after becoming fed up at having to share the use of VIP jets with Government ministers and military top brass.

They often take priority, forcing her and other royals to hire other planes at the last minute at vast public cost. The Queen has taken a close personal interest in the new jet"s design. She was overheard asking: "Where will the Corgis sit?"

Last year, the royal family spent 5.5 million pound on official travel, much of it on charter aircraft. The jet will seat up to 13 people and is likely to be furnished in spectacular style. Luxury touches are expected to include reclining seats embroidered with the royal crest.

This is some news for all the people out there who thought richness comes cheap!
